I'd say Lone Eagle was "close" to a good thing beaten last start up the straight at Flemington. Never had a clear crack at them and still only finished 2.3L off Royal Phoenix and I believe he'll turn the tables on him this time out in the Schweppes Hcp, 1200m. Worked on Tuesday morning over 800m with Borella in evens, home last 400m in a very slick 22.89. Trained on a treat and should go close here.

Pure Emotion has come on nicely since her last start win. Worked 1000m in 1.10.59, last 400m in 23.25.

The Mick Price trained Savvy Dresser has been around the money this time in and although he rises in grade, he does drop down to 54 1/2 kg and has the services of D.Oliver. Wasn't out to break records Tuesday morning, working over 1600m in evens, last 400m in 25.61. He's spot on fitness wise and rates as some sort of each way hope here in the Dream Thoroughbreds Hcp, 2000m.

Windbern is as fit as can be for this, she worked over 1600m, home last 600m in 36.57 and 23.32 last 400m.

If Not Now When is the fitter of the Caulfield trained aspirants lining up in the Sheamus Mills Hcp, 1100m. Didn't have things go her way last start when boxed in and out late, hitting the line hard. Trained on a treat and no reason she can't run well here. Tuesday she worked over 800m in 53.21 and 24.34 last 400m.

Run Gypsy Run is 3rd up, partnered with Princess Of Queens (resuming) over 800m, clocking 56.90 and 23.61 last 400m.

Snipping Revolving Door of his "crown jewels" didn't do him any harm going by his solid win 1st up over Liberty Song at Moonee Valley. Worked super during the week on his home track over 1000m, stopping the clock at 1.05.06, last 400m split of 22.80. Looks a genuine chance in the Securecorp Hcp, 1400m.

Enigman is 3rd up and well placed here with only 54kg on his back. Worked over 800m in 52.30 and 23.56 last 400m. Drawn well and also expected to figure prominently.

Act Of Valour is flying for the Henry Dwyer stable and C Williams will be desperate to guide him home as he fights to take out the jockey's championship for the season. Reports are good coming out of the stable. His work was solid during the week, breezed over 800m in 53.24 and 24.12 last 400m.

Divine Mr Artie resumes. He worked over 800m in 53.02 and 24.52 last 400m.

Evergreen 7yo gelding Onpicalo is racing as well as he ever has and steps up to 1800m in the Quayclean Hcp, a trip he's yet to taste success with in 2 attempts to date. Maintenance gallop on Tuesday morning over 1200m in evens, home last 400m in 23.52. He's fit and holding his condition well this time in.

Overberg would have to rate as a leading contender if he can gain a run. Clocked working his last 1000m with Kapset in 1.05.58 and 23.42 last 400m, which was excellent work on the morning.

Ability broke through for a well overdue victory last start, where he was first up over 1000m. Drops nicely in weight to 54kg in the Country Achiever Gerald Egan Hcp, 1100m. Trained on well and his work was excellent on Tuesday morning. He strode over 800m in 52.23 and 23.54 last 400m split. All things point to a good run here 2nd up.

If ever Mighty Like is going to break through, it's first up from a spell! He worked keenly with Lone Eagle, dashing home 11.76 last 400m.

Pemberley hasn't disgraced himself since heading up to Brisbane for their Winter Carnival. Last start placing in the Brisbane Cup was solid and he'll be at his peak for the Carlton Tattersal's Cup, a Group 3 staying event run over 2200m. Galloped solidly during the week up there, clocked running home his last 400m in 23.0. Gets his chance to break through here.

Big ask for the Robert Smerdon trained Under Oath to graduate to Saturday grade after just breaking his maiden status, howveer, he's always shown a bit and will represent value on both totes for punters in the Gippsland Region Hcp, 1400m. Has race experience on his side and he's fit as a fiddle! Tuesday morning he worked over 1000m in 1,07.86 and 24.50 last 400m.

Not sure if they'll back up with Magic Mila, who failed by a head at $151 last start!

Another at odds is the Smerdon trained Gouger's who worked super during the week on her home track at Caulfield. She flew over 600m, clocking 35.52 and has the services of C Williams. Recent form has been very good, culminating in a last start 7th, beaten 2.85L behind the promising Invincible Al. She's fit and rates as some sort of each way hope in the Barwon South West Region Hcp 1100m.

We haven't seen much of the imported C Maher galloper Duke Of Ellington in the last month. Stable reports are that he's been ticking over nicely at Caulfield and has the miles in his legs to be a factor in the Grampians Region Hcp, 2000m. He was restricted to treadmill work during the week, holding his condition well and expected to be in the mix at the business end.Try him on both totes.

Always happy to follow fit mares in form and Hot Ruby is no exception. Recent runs have been excellent and she's got a real rest for racing and it's translating on race day. She trialed well during the week at Pakenham, holding them all at bay to the line under a firm grip from her rider. Only has 54kg in the David Bourke Provincial Plate, run over 1600m.

By The Grace could win this if he put his best foot forward, take on trust. Worked over 1200m during the week, home last 400m in 23.68.
